The Sun appears to be cruising
along at 200 kilometers per second and it takes 240 million years to complete

"If just the right amount on
energy is applied, it is possible to knock an electron up to a higher energy
orbital (a different shape of cloud, not so close to the nucleus), or even
completely off of the atom. If electrons are knocked off of the atoms, they can
create electricity."
If they are only given some
energy, but not enough to knock them loose, they will move from one orbital to
another (say from the S-orbital to the P-orbital). But if there is no other
electron in the lower-energy orbital, they will fall back down again. When they
do, they release energy in the form of a photon (light). This is part of the
concept that lasers are based on.
Do electrons ever "fall" into
the nucleus of an atom?
Could
you please tell me if electrons ever " fall " into the nucleus of an
atom?
I
have never read of this happening - not even in the depths of space where the
temperature is so cold the electrons should be moving very slowly and hence
should " fall " in.
If
the electron of a hydrogen atom were to " fall " into the nucleus
then this would produce a proton. However, I seem to recall reading that an
electron has to be fired into a proton using a particle accelerator in order
for us to produce a neutron.
When
I was at school I was taught that electrons travel around the nucleus in a
similar way to planets travelling around the sun. This doesn't seem to be quite
right.

Conclusion:
QUANTUM MECHANICS.
The mathematical
formulations of quantum mechanics are abstract.
It is possible to force electrons into the nucleus. You have
to overcome certain energy barriers made by other, possibly present electrons (
the repulsive force between these electrons makes this barrier). Once you do
that, electrons can enter the nucleus and can react with protons or neutrons,
but that is another story. It is not anymore QM which is responsible for
description of such an event, but something called the Standard Model of
Particle Physics. This is the model we are verifying here at Fermilab. (And of
course, at the same time we are looking for the ultimate theory of our
universe.)

asking about these creation theories and I am the only real scientist. This
fools is still looking for the doomsday weapon to destroy me or the Universe.
